Traditional carols such as 'Once in Royal David's City' and 'Hark! The Herald Angels Sing', accompanied by the Orchestra, encouraged everyone to join in, filling the church with joyful voices.

A Celebration of Hope and Joy

On Monday 16 December, the Wren Academy community came together at Christ Church Finchley, for our annual Carol Service.  With the theme of Hope and Joy, the evening brought warmth, reflection and festive cheer to all who attended.

The service opened with the lively carol 'A La Media Noche' performed by the Orchestra, setting the tone for a night of musical excellence and spiritual reflection. Following an opening prayer by our Chaplain, students led readings, including John 1:9-14 and the Christmas story from Luke 2.

Musical highlights were aplenty, with the Gospel Choir delivering soulful renditions of 'Adore' and 'Glory Glory', and the Year 7 Choir captivating the congregation with their beautiful performance of 'Sweet Silent Night'. The Staff and Sixth Form Choir also shone with their heartfelt delivery of 'Immanuel'.

Rev. Dave Walker, Pastor of Christ Church, delivered an inspiring talk on the themes of the evening. His words, along with the students' thoughtful prayers, offered moments of peace and reflection.

Traditional carols such as 'Once in Royal David's City' and 'Hark! The Herald Angels Sing', accompanied by the Orchestra, encouraged everyone to join in, filling the church with joyful voices. The service concluded on a high note with a stunning performance of 'See Amid the Winter Snow', bringing together all the choirs in a powerful expression of unity and hope.

Thank you to all our talented musicians, readers, staff and the Christ Church team for making this a truly memorable event. The Carol Service was a fitting way to celebrate the festive season and brought our community together to reflect on the hope and joy that Christmas brings.
