A Level Science Trip Posted: 7/02/25
On Tuesday 4 February, 33 Year 13 Chemistry and Biology A Level students visited the Natural History Museum in London. During the day, they completed a booklet supporting their Biology and Chemistry knowledge, using the booklets to help find information from the different exhibits relating to their courses.
In the morning students completed a variety of sessions on Chemistry and Biology, including looking at the evolution of species, the minerals and gems that contain transition metals, changes in Earth over time and how Chemistry affects our landscape.
After lunch, students completed an independent exploration of the museum, visiting the different areas which we had not visited in the morning session. This allowed them time to visit parts of the museum that relate to their A Level course, as well as enabling them to learn about other scientific concepts not covered in their A Level curriculum.
Students then completed further tasks in their booklets to support their course knowledge including an essay task for Biology and some linked exam questions for Chemistry.
Overall, it was an excellent and enjoyable trip, with all students getting involved well in each session and having the chance to see some of the concepts they have studied on their A Level courses in action.
