Year 2 had an exciting trip to the Tower of London, where they explored its fascinating history and made links to their learning about the Great Fire of London.
As they walked through the ancient stone walls, they discovered how the Tower was one of the few buildings that survived the devastating fire of 1666. They learned that people sought refuge there while much of the city burned and that important documents and valuables were kept safe within its strong walls.
The children were especially intrigued by stories of how the fire spread so quickly through the wooden houses of London, contrasting with the sturdy stone of the Tower.
Seeing history come to life made their learning even more exciting and memorable!
