Year 10 and Year 12 Ski Trip Posted: 25/04/25
Over the first week of the Easter holidays, 35 Year 10 and 12 students went on a ski trip to Zell-am-See in Austria.
We met on Saturday morning to get our coach to Austria, arriving Sunday morning at our hotel. We had the rest of Sunday to relax and then skied every day from Monday to Friday, leaving Friday evening and getting back to the UK Saturday afternoon.
The vast majority of students had either never skied before or had very limited experience on the snow, and throughout the week it was great to see them all make brilliant progress. Many of the students went from barely being able to stand up on Monday to expertly weaving down the mountain by Friday.
We also had some brilliant evening activities planned which were enjoyed by all. For example we went bowling, had a disco, and then, for many the highlight of the trip, the Tyrolean evening of competition against another school (which we won!).
The behaviour, effort and enthusiasm displayed by all students was impeccable, and an excellent experience was had by all.
Here is what some of our students said:
Lucy T, 12 Walbrook – The Tyrolean evening was my favourite. It brought everyone together, there was a friendly but competitive vibe, and most importantly, we won!
Nikia A, 12 Walbrook – I loved how I got to go on so many slopes. I liked creating new relationships with students I did not know too well before.
Luke L, 12 Strand – I liked how enthusiastic the instructors were. This made not only the skiing fun, but the learning too.
Lydia D, 12 Holborn – I liked how as part of our lessons, we were able to go to the top of the mountain and then zoom down!
