Reception at Forest School Posted: 14/11/25

The children took part in a range of autumn themed activities, including making beautiful leaf crowns, creating muddy soup for woodland creatures and going on exciting minibeast hunts.

Reception have really enjoyed their first few sessions of Forest School this term.  We started each session with a site sweep where we explored the area together and then we used red flags to identify any areas which could be dangerous.  The children are becoming experts at knowing which plants could harm them!  We have also played fun games to reinforce safe boundaries and encourage good listening skills.

As most of our sessions have been during Autumn, we have used texts such as Leaf Man as a stimulus.  The children took part in a range of autumn themed activities, including making beautiful leaf crowns, creating muddy soup for woodland creatures and going on exciting minibeast hunts.  They also loved exploring our Forest School site on an Autumn walk, noticing seasonal changes and discovering the wonders of the outdoors.  The crowns were a great success and some of the children went into character as the King or Queen of Autumn!

We are so proud of how curious, confident and enthusiastic the children have been during their Forest School sessions so far.  What a wonderful start to their outdoor learning journey!
