Year 5 launched their new Earth and Space topic with a visit from astronomer Sophie Larson and her interactive, space simulator!

She showed all the Year 5 children the stars and planets in the solar system and shared some fascinating facts with us all.

Her clever space simulator was like a giant, dark igloo.  On the ceiling, she projected images of various parts of the universe.  It was fascinating.  Back in the classroom the children created their own models of the solar system on strips of paper and playdough

The children asked some fantastic questions and learnt so much.

“It felt like we were in space!”

“It felt like we were in a rocket, we could see everything so clearly.”

“We learnt about each of the planets and it has really helped us with our science topic this term.”
