Year 11 GCSE PE Trip Posted: 7/11/25

The Manchester football trip was an amazing way to conclude five years worth of great school trips at Wren.

Year 11 Football Trip to Manchester - Friday 17 - Sunday 19 October 2025

On Friday 17 October, Year 11 PE students enjoyed their final residential trip of their Wren Academy journey with an exciting visit to Manchester.  The purpose of the trip was to give students the opportunity to test their football abilities, broaden their cultural experiences outside of London and celebrate their long standing commitment to school sport.

One of our students said this about the trip:

The Manchester football trip was an amazing way to conclude five years worth of great school trips at Wren.  We began by making our way to Keele University to take part in a fun training session, shoutout to Mr Ray for the goalkeeping tips!  We then continued our journey to Manchester, where we played a local team and then as reward for all our hard work, enjoyed a delicious Nando’s in the city centre.

The next day, (for most of us the most exciting day!) we set out for Manchester City’s Etihad stadium, where we had a tour by a very knowledgeable tour guide who was able to enlighten us on many interesting facts about the stadium.  The match itself got everyone involved and cheering, a 2-0 win for Man City against Everton (unlucky Miss Dunn).  After this, we had a night of bowling and playing at the arcade, where all the students and teachers had some great laughs and enjoyed some friendly competition.

The last day entailed of an interesting trip to the football museum, followed by lots of fun shopping with our friends.  Overall, Manchester was an amazing last trip for us Year 11s, courtesy of the PE department and a great way to end an amazing half term of hard work.

Thank you to everyone involved for organising this trip. Erin S, 11 Bow
