Library Ambassadors Trip Posted: 3/11/25
On Tuesday 14 October, 17 Library Ambassadors went to Waterstones Piccadilly to choose new books for the Academy Library with the £500.00 they had raised by completing the Sponsored Silence. They also had some time to find some books they wanted to buy for themselves.
The students spent a good hour browsing the shelves and choosing some books, which we then checked against the Academy Library catalogue to see if we already have these titles, then we worked out how much we had spent in total. We found so many books that we wanted to read which meant that we had overspent, so we then had the difficult decision of which books we should put back on the shelves.
The staff at Waterstones were very impressed with the students behaviour and we all had a great time looking at all the new titles in one of the biggest bookshops in Europe! It was great to have time to chat about books and see the new layout of the store, which now has an entire floor that is bigger than our Library at Wren, just for children and teenage books.
We left with an order of 60 new books which all arrived the very next day. The image below shows some of these new titles:
