Our Year 8 students recently enjoyed an immersive cultural experience at the Royal College of Music.
During a vibrant 90 minute workshop, the group delved into Indonesian heritage and gained hands on experience playing a traditional set of Javanese gamelan. The session culminated in the students successfully performing a traditional piece as an ensemble, displaying impressive teamwork and rhythmic focus.
The highlight of the trip was a captivating performance by the workshop leader, who sang a traditional song while self-accompanying on the gamelan. It was an inspiring morning of music making and discovery that brought the sounds of Indonesia to life.
