The standard of competition was high throughout the day and our students rose to the challenge

TrampTrampolining

Students from Years 7 – 11 proudly represented the Academy at the Barnet Trampolining Championships earlier this month, competing against 12 other schools in a fantastic display of skill, focus and courage. Our trampolinists performed a range of routines featuring controlled shapes, seat drops and front somersaults, with some of our more experienced students even attempting impressive back somersaults.

The standard of competition was high throughout the day and our students rose to the challenge, showing excellent technique, determination and sportsmanship. Their preparation and commitment were clear in every performance and they supported one another brilliantly between rounds.

Staff organisers praised both their conduct and competitive spirit. We are extremely proud of how they represented the Academy and look forward to building on this success in future events.

Indoor Athletics Competition

AthleticsWe had an amazing opportunity to represent the Academy in our first ever London Youth Games regional qualifiers.  Earlier this year the Years 7 and 8 students entered a team to compete in the Borough of Barnet Indoor Athletics Competition and we were thrilled to hear that all four of our teams, boys and girls, won the competition, which meant that we were invited to compete in the London Youth Games Regional Qualifiers.

It was a truly exhilarating day where all students worked well as a team to get through and compete in a variety of different track and field events.  The highlight was the new obstacle relay race in which we placed 1st and 2nd.

We had to wait for the results of the regional event, which recently came through to say that our Year 8 boys came first in the regional qualifiers and will be competing in the Regional finals taking place on Tuesday 17 March.

I want to congratulate all the students that took part as I know that they were extremely proud of themselves for reaching this stage and competed to the absolute best of their ability.

Sixth Form Football

The Sixth Form football team won the League Cup this month for the first time in the Academy's history.

Their previous success was in the Barnet Cup, to which they start their title defence after half term.

With the scores level at 2-2 in a closely fought game, we went on to win 4-2 on penalties.

Some of the players were injured for the final but still attended to support their team mates.
