World Book Day 2026 Posted: 6/03/26

The Library was busy all day with puzzles, reading activities and a selection of £1 World Book Day books.  Staff also joined in by dressing as characters, adding to the excitement.

World Book Day is a global celebration of books and reading, and this year was no exception.

WBDEach March, we come together to highlight the joy of reading and encourage all students to discover that books can be exciting and fun. World Book Day promotes key ideas such as having access to books, choosing what to read and making reading enjoyable.  Our theme this year was The Year of Reading, with activities and costumes designed to spark curiosity.  Celebrating World Book Day is part of our commitment to building a strong reading culture.

The day began with form time quizzes on a range of different books from different genres, followed by Key Stage 3 lesson starters featuring short extracts, where students predicted what might happen next.  This year we made it extra special by having students and teachers recording themselves reading the e-short extracts.  The children loved guessing who was reading!

All students received a World Book Day voucher to use at a local bookstore.
