Year 12

Research Methods (Part 1)
The course begins with experimental methods, providing a foundation for later content.

Psychological Approaches
Approaches are taught chronologically: Wundt, behaviourism, social learning theory, cognitive, and biological. The psychodynamic and humanistic approaches—less central to other topics—are taught later in Year 12.

Linked Topics
Related content follows each approach:

  • After behaviourism: phobias in psychopathology.

  • After cognitive: depression (psychopathology) and memory.

  • After biological: OCD and biopsychology.

Standalone Topics
Social influence and attachment are taught later in Year 12.

Issues and Debates
Covered at the end of Year 12, this topic supports synoptic connections across the course.
