Fourth Plinth Prize at City Hall Posted: 25/04/25
I want to share with you the success of one of our Year 10 Art and Design students as I am delighted to inform you all that Rozan K, 10 Piccadilly won The Fourth Plinth Prize at City Hall.
Rozan was not only selected over all the other applicants from the Borough of Barnet, but she also won the 'Special Prize' for her pottery design. Here is what Rozan wrote about her sculpture and what it means to her:
Being a Persian girl in London means taking on a dual identity - one rooted in a rich, ancient culture and another shaped by a modern city of diversity. Everyday, I carry the weight of my heritage: the poetry of Hafez, the resilience of Persian women and the loud echoes of Zan, Zendegi, Azadi – Women, Life, Freedom. London offers the opportunities my homeland denies its daughters, yet my heart remains tethered to Iran’s fight for justice. I am both an insider and an outsider, weaving Farsi into English, tradition into rebellion, longing into hope. My identity is neither there nor here – it is both.
This prize was presented to her by the Mayor for Culture London, who was so impressed by her work, she wrote her a special note of encouragement.
